Today's ride was short 51 miles and the excitement was crossing another border at mile 34 into North Carolina. Immediately the roads got smoother and they had a "Share the road" bicycle sign, which was a first since leaving Ft. Lauderdale. The forecast was for rain and wind, but when we woke up this morning, the forecast had changed and only 20% chance of rain and a little sunshine. We only had 2 spots of rain, but the wind was there. But all in all,it was a nice ride with plenty of services and there was an alligator in a pond on a golf course past Calabash. Gail saw it come out of the pond and then go back in. We ate lunch in Seaside at restaurant called Fiber Magee's and ate with 10 other riders. We only had 10 miles left and of course I took my rain jacket off as it is high humidity. With 3 miles left,it starts raining and the race is on to get to the hotel. I had much more energy today and was well rested for the ride today. Tomorrow is one of the shortest days of riding,38 miles, and I love it.
Dinner last night was white chili, salad, bread, and cookies for dinner. Tomorrow's forecast is 50% chance of rain, and this weekend the news is watching a tropical storm called "Anna" that should hit the Carolina Coast this weekend. I only have one picture today of the border crossing. Gail and myself miss all of you back home and hope everyone is healthy.
Well I thought I could add the picture, but the wifi here is very weak and all the riders are using their devices at the same time. Maybe tomorrow.
We miss you guys!!!! And if it makes you feel better, we had rain here yesterday so we were all bundled up to stay dry during our Kaffee Klatch. Of course, I don't think anyone was brave enough to actually cycle to the Kaffee Klatch, but we certainly enjoyed the hot coffee! We feel for you!
