Day 27 Williamsburg to Richmond VA

Today was a 66 mile ride and 30 of it was on a beautiful bike trail, but before that,we had to ride back to Jamestown 10 miles. It was on the Colonial Parkway, which is chip seal, but it went quicker as it was cooler at 7:45am in the morning. Gail and I knew we would be doing a FaceTime call to our bike club meeting at 8:15am, their time, and 11:15am our time. We kept reminding each other every hour while we were riding, not to forget. We picked a shady spot that had a plantation behind us and made the call to Linda Fletcher, who organized this broadcast. Our fellow rider Marilyn Blanchfield held our IPhone while we talked and saw all our friends during there monthly bike meeting. We were so thrilled that the room was filled up and that we could talk to you. We both miss our homes, friends, dogs, and of course, Gail's husband Tom. After the call, we continued on the trail to the second sag stop at mile 42 and the heat and humidity got to me and sagged in to the motel. Gail continued on with other riders, and it was in the 90's and everyone was feeling it. The riders passed many Civil War battlefields and graveyards and as we got to downtown Richmond, the sky opened up,and rain and thunder started, but eventually stopped.

  1. Such fun to talk with you two this morning. You were the main draw for the meeting. Sorry there were some technical difficulties, but at least we all got to see each other--and hear you. You both sounded good--like you are having fun! Keep it up.
